On March 15, 2018, ACS leaders wrote to the House Ways and Means Committee regarding how the use and abuse of both prescription and illicit drugs has increased dramatically in recent years and has become a major public health concern. The letter reaffirms the College’s commitment to working with Congress to address the opioid epidemic.
The College submitted comments to the Food and Drug Administration’s newly established Opioid Policy Steering Committee on March 14, 2018. The College’s comments included a comprehensive outline of the ACS’ work surrounding patient and provider opioid-related education and examples of how to best address the epidemic on the legislative and regulatory front.
The ACS provided a statement in response to the United States House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Combating the Opioid Crisis: Battles in the States on July 13, 2017.
