Economic Survival Strategies in the COVID World Webinar

As part of its ongoing efforts to assist surgeons in managing the intense financial burden placed upon them by the coronavirus pandemic, the Practice Protection Committee (PPC) hosted a webinar to discuss the Economic Survival Strategies in the COVID-19 World resource document. The document includes a set of key principles and a suggested process for Fellows to undertake based on an Excel spreadsheet exercise of personal and business finances. In addition to walking participants through the spreadsheet exercise, members of the Committee discussed suggestions to consider based on which of the three specific scenarios most accurately describes an individual’s employment and financial situation.

The webinar features a discussion of physician contracts provided by Stacy L. Cook, Partner, Barnes and Thornburgh, LLP and a discussion of the surgeon-hospital relationship led by former ACS Regents Mike Zinner, MD, FACS, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Medical Director, Miami Cancer Institute and Julie Freischlag, MD, FACS, Chief Executive Officer, Wake Forest Baptist Health and Dean, Wake Forest School of Medicine.
