Academy of Master Surgeon Educators

The Academy of Master Surgeon Educators™ continually advance the science and practice of education across all specialties of surgery through innovation and promotion of the highest achievements in lifelong learning. The goals of the Academy are to:

  • Define megatrends in surgical education and training
  • Steer advances in the field
  • Foster innovation and collaboration
  • Support faculty development and recognition
  • Underscore the critical importance of surgical education and training in the changing milieu of health care

Applications and nominations are now open for the next class of the Academy who will be selected in summer 2022. The Induction Ceremony is being planned as an in-person event in Chicago, IL on the evening of Friday, September 30, 2022.

In October 2020, the ACS Board of Regents unanimously approved the use of a Membership Mark of the Academy, Member, Academy of Master Surgeon Educators (MAMSE).

2021 Induction

This year, 84 educators were inducted into the Academy of Master Surgeon Educators™ and brings the Academy’s membership to 302 Members, Associate Members, and Affiliate Members. Congratulations to our new members!

Grand Rounds Series

Join us on Thursday, March 17 for the next Academy Grand Rounds, The Value of Surgical Education in the Overall Mission of Surgery Departments, featuring panelists Drs. Fabrizio Michelassi, Anton Sidawy, and Julie Ann Sosa discussing the question of how to align financial incentives with the critical need to educate learners.
