Save the Date: Chicago Hosts the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress October 4-8

College’s annual conference will include hundreds of scientific sessions and feature a new lineup of didactic/experiential courses for today’s practicing surgeon


CHICAGO (May 4, 2015): The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Clinical Congress 2015, one of the largest international meetings of surgeons in the world will convene October 4-8 in Chicago, Ill.  McCormick Place West will house the scientific sessions and most courses, as well as all scientific posters and technical exhibits, while the Hilton Chicago will serve as headquarters hotel for the meeting.

This year’s theme is “Achieving Your Personal Best: Improvement Based on Evidence.”  The scientific program features more than 100 panel sessions; didactic/experiential courses; surgical skills courses; Meet-the-Expert Luncheons; named lectures; scientific poster presentations; the Scientific Forum; video-based education sessions; and town hall meetings. 

More than 200 companies will also be on site displaying products and services that improve the quality of surgical care or enhance surgical management practices.

The 2015 meeting will feature panel sessions including:

  • Ten Hot Topics in Critical Care
  • The Surgeon and Emotional Intelligence: It’s Real and Relevant
  • Bariatric Surgery—Prevention and Management of Complications

Didactic/experiential courses and surgical skills courses will include a number of new courses as well as a selection of  popular courses from previous years.  Some of the offerings include:

  • A Primer in Clinical Trials Design and Methodology
  • Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy (FUSE)
  • Improving Patient Safety and Team Performance in Your OR: The Non-Technical Skills for Surgeons (NOTSS) System
  • General Surgery Review Course
  • Advanced Skills Training for Rural Surgeons: Laparoscopic Bile Duct Exploration and Facial Lacerations
  • Aortic Occlusion for Hemorrhage Control
  • Laparoscopic Inguinal and Ventral Hernia Repair
  • Palliative Surgical Care
