American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress convenes in San Diego next week

CHICAGO (October 17, 2017): The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Clinical Congress, one of the largest international meetings of surgeons in the world, convenes in San Diego next week, October 22-26.

The Clinical Congress provides a prime opportunity for writers, editors, and producers who cover the health care and health policy beats to provide the latest information for their readers or viewers in topic areas such as:

  • Lessons Learned from Las Vegas and other Major Intentional Mass Casualty Events
  • Getting the Sickest Patients Ready When They Need to Go to the Operating Room
  • Reconstructing the Body: 3D, Custom Scaffolds, and Stem Cell Therapy

A press conference on automatic acoustic gunshot sensor technology’s impact on trauma care is scheduled for 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 24, in the ACS Press Conference Room, in the San Diego Convention Center. During this press conference surgeons will review this increasingly common gunshot sensor technology and its potential effect on outcomes for victims of gunshot wounds.

In addition to hundreds of general and specialty sessions, a series of lectures by prominent guest speakers and hundreds of research-in-progress reports will be presented during the Scientific Forum sessions. Technical exhibits from more than 200 companies will be on display at the San Diego Convention Center, along with scientific exhibits from surgical researchers around the world.

Dozens of surgeon scientists and researchers from the San Diego-area will also deliver presentations throughout the entire conference. View a list of these presenters.

We hope you will take the opportunity to join us for this premier surgical research conference, which opens for press registration October 22. The actual program sessions begin as early as 8:00 am on Monday, October 23.

Press badges will be issued to qualified members of the media who present the appropriate identification in the ACS Press Room located in the San Diego Convention Center. View criteria for press credentials.
