American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

ACS Division of Education Offers Opportunities to Other Organizations to Offer CME Credits through Joint Providership Program

Since 2001, the ACS Division of Education’s PartnerCME Program has provided Continuing Medical Education Credits for participation in more than 600 surgical and medical organizations each year. This program is part of the overall CME Accreditation Program that offers CME Credits for all ACS educational activities. In 2020, the ACS was again awarded the highest level of accreditation (Accreditation with Commendation) by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

The PartnerCME Program continues to offer opportunities to accredit a variety of educational meetings and activities in different formats, such as live meetings, enduring materials, online programs, review of journal articles, review of manuscripts and regularly scheduled series such as weekly and monthly conferences. In the last year, the ACS has pursued additional activities that involve accreditation of education delivered in a variety of virtual formats and has identified best practices in this regard to support delivery of high-quality education.

The Division of Education’s CME Platform provides a streamlined system to navigate the requirements related to CME, with a dedicated member of the Continuous Professional Development Accreditation Section of the Division assigned to an individual PartnerCME activity, to offer specific guidance and support at each step along the way.
