American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

Children's Surgery Verification

Dr. DolginThe goal of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Children’s Surgery Verification (CSV) Quality Improvement Program is to ensure pediatric surgical patients have access to high-quality care. The CSV program defines the resources required to achieve optimal patient outcomes for children receiving surgical care at verified health care facilities and offers institutional verification to sites that meet the prescribed standards. The program has key endorsements from multiple specialty societies including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Pediatric Surgical Association, and Society of Pediatric Anesthesiology.

The Optimal Resources for Children’s Surgical Care standards document details the principles regarding resource standards, quality improvement and safety processes, data collection, and a verification process. The CSV program evaluates three levels of care, aligned to the standards and expected scope of practice at the pediatric hospital. An interactive PDF of the Optimal Resources for Children’s Surgical Care is available for download.

To pursue verification, your hospital or medical center must complete the Pre-Review Questionnaire (PRQ) found on the Apply page. The CSV Program verifies the standards in the Optimal Resources for Children’s Surgical Care have been met at participating centers.
