What is the ACS Surgeon Specific Registry?

The ACS SSR™ is an online quality improvement tool and software application database that allows surgeons to track their cases and outcomes in a convenient manner, as well as meet regulatory requirements for the American Board of Surgery (ABS) Continuous Certification Program.

What is the New SSR Practice Improvement Initiative?

The American College of Surgeons Surgeon Specific Registry Practice Improvement Initiative (SSR PII) - Quality Case Data Review and Reflection is new program developed by surgeons to help all surgeons to continually collect and review their case data, including outcomes data, by identifying trends, gaps, and performance improvement opportunities. Surgeons will compare their individual data to aggregated data real-time with the purpose of enhancing the quality of surgical care. The SSR PII offers surgeons an opportunity to earn obtain Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit. We are offering up to 15.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for the review, reflection, and learning with the SSR PII tool from January 2022 through June 2022.

My SSR account is locked, how do unlock it?

If you forget your password or are locked out of your account due to five failed login attempts, contact ACS Tech Support at 877-600-7237 (toll-free).

How do I sign up for the SSR?

To begin SSR account creation, please visit SSR Registration and select Register. As a benefit of membership in the ACS, there is no registration charge for the SSR. Non-ACS surgeon members can sign up for the SSR program for an annual subscription fee of $299.

Can my office manager enter data on my behalf in the SSR?

Yes! The SSR offers delegate-level access to your SSR account. A delegate may be any office staff member (for example, practice administrator, nurse, biller, etc.). As a surgeon user you are responsible for managing your delegate account(s) access including initiation and deactivation. To get started, download our delegate management instructions.

What is the cost of participation in the SSR?

The SSR is available to ACS surgeon members free of charge, as a benefit of membership.

Non-ACS surgeon members can register for the SSR for an annual subscription fee of $299.

Can I access the SSR from my smartphone or mobile device?

Yes, the SSR is accessible from mobile devices. The SSR is mobile responsive and adapts to iOS mobile & tablet devices, as well as Android mobile & tablet devices. The mobile responsive SSR site can be added to your device’s home screen.

Please note: Reports cannot be accessed on mobile devices (tablets and smartphones).

What reports are available in the SSR?

The SSR features multiple reports and analytics for surgeons: SSR Reports, Benchmarking Report, and Data Download Reports. All reports are accessible under “Operational Reports” within the SSR menu.

The “SSR Reports” features the following report options: Procedure by Date, Procedures Frequency, Wound Classification, Patient Attributes, and Postop Occurrences.

The “Benchmarking Report” allows surgeons to complete their individual data with aggregated data.

The “Data Download Report” allows you to download all data or select variables for a specific time frame.

How do I export my cases in the SSR?

To export your operative log:

  1. Select Operational Reports in the main menu
  2. Select SSR Reports
  3. Select Procedure Frequency report tab

Once the report populates and appropriate filters have been set, click on File in the upper left corner and select Export > Microsoft Excel Export.

The dialogue will automatically populate. DO NOT change any filters and click the “OK” button. Your report will download to your computer. Open your report and click on the second tab labeled: “procedure report by frequency” (delete details view tab if needed).

Can I import cases into the SSR?

Yes! The SSR offers an “Uploader Tool” that allows users to import large amounts of case data into the system. The “Uploader Tool” instructions and template can be found within the “Library” section of the menu.

Please note: This feature is not available on mobile devices (tablets and smartphones).

Where can I find educational guides in the SSR?

Educational resources, guides, etc. can be found within the “Library” section of the menu and from there either access a guide directly or click on the “Education Center” link to access additional resources including videos.
